Your Responsibilities:
Be prepared. Pack your bag for camp with a big water bottle, healthy and filling lunch, &
swim suit and towel (EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T THINK YOU NEED IT!)
Be prompt. Arrive at camp early to prepare for the day’s activities.
Attend regular staff meetings.
Take direction from all staff, and take appropriate action when requested.
Listen to and assist staff throughout the day.
Take charge of your camp group from the beginning. Get well acquainted: talk to the campers, be their
friend.
Add your suggestions to the camp program: songs, crafts, games, and special talents.
See that the campers learn and obey camp rules
Report all behavior problems to camp staff.
Be alert to the physical safety and well being of each camper at all times:
Report all accidents or illnesses to the camp staff. You are NOT responsible to administer any medicine.
Only staff will administer medication.
Swimming- aid lifeguards and staff in keeping all campers safe in the water.
Clear with your director any absence from the immediate camp area.
Make sure all equipment being used in your group is used properly, accounted for, and put in the correct place
when you, and campers are finished with it.
Know where the campers are at all times.
Be aware on the needs of the individual camper:
Encourage the reserved child to participate.
Take time to help the unskilled child.
Guide the potential troublemaker into a helpful attitude.
Be an example to campers: alert, enthusiastic, ready to help, using clean language, dressing appropriately,
respecting fellow counselors, following rules.
Anticipate camper needs during camp and help staff keep campers busy and engaged in camp.
